How To Use Bosch Laser Level Properly

Step 1: Mounting and Setup
Before anything else, you would need to set the device up. As with any other laser level, you need to find a flat surface to set it up. Also, even if you do find the most leveled ground, do not use any other object to set the unit up. Instead, use a tripod.
Now, if you are operating a device with a self-leveling mechanism, ensure to press the ground spikes. That helps the laser to stabilize appropriately on the ground. Turn the unit on after mounting it on the tripod and let it automatically level itself. It should take a minute or so.
On the other hand, if you are using a manual device, make sure to adjust the screws close to the vial until the bubble is stable. Turn it on and aim the beam in the direction you want to work in.
Step 2: Connect the Receiver
Your device should come with a receiver. You need the receiver for using the laser leveler. Usually, the receiver will be unique to that device. So, if you have other receivers lying around, you might not get fruitful results if you try to pair them with this tool.
Nonetheless, many of the Bosch kits will come with receivers with clamps or mounting holes. You can take the help of these clamps or mounting holes for the setup process. Step 3.1: Calculate the Distance

Take the receiver to the location you want to measure the distance of and move the receiver around until it receives the laser beam from the device. Select the point on the ground at the preferred height and connect the receiver to a measuring rod. Place the rod at that point to find out the level.
Find level using the rod. Remember, the bottom of the rod is basically the desired ground height. Also, it would be easy if you could mark the height in some way. And do not just take one reference point. Instead, get multiple reference points. You should stop taking the reference points only when you are confident enough to finish the leveling project with the points you got.
Step 3.3: Elevation Calculation
You can even use the laser level to calculate elevation. For this, you will need the elevation measurements from both the starting and points. Additionally, you should measure the distance between those two points to get an accurate elevation calculation.
Note that the distance traveled is not similar to the run. That said, with the tool, you can determine the changes in the elevation by rise over run or the change in overall vertical distance divided by the change in horizontal distance. The tool will show the calculated measurement in degrees, percentages, or decimals.
Wall Mounting The Bosch Laser Leveler
For particular tasks, mounting the laser level on the wall can make things easy. As we have mentioned earlier, both the laser device and receiver will come with clips or mounting screws for some models. You can use these to mount the devices to the compatible keyhole slots or ceiling trim of the wall.
